PROSTART

PROSTART is a program sponsored by the National Restaurant Association. It teaches students how to work in the food service industry. It revolves around the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is the largest and fastest growing in America; al least 250,000 new workers are needed each year. ProStart students will operate the department restaurant three days a week and rotate through a variety of responsibilities. Students will act as student’s manager, server, cook, and bakeries. Skills will be obtained in the areas of menu planning, recipe adjusting, safety, sanitation, nutrition, and business management. Students exiting the ProStart course of study will be ready to enter the work force in a variety of occupations or proceed with a 2 to 4 year degree. This course constitutes 1080 hours for completion.
