Practical Nursing is an integral part of the total health program. It's purpose is to provide learning opportunities and training to individuals interested in becoming competent members of an honorable profession. Nature of Work: We believe that nursing is an art and a science and that the nature is dynamic and ever changing. We believe that nursing is concerned with the holistic care of the individual and of the uniqueness of man and his environment. The goal of nursing is to promote health and assist the individual in reaching an optional level of Functioning. The School of Practical Nursing is a twelve-month course of study (1400) hours, which prepares the student to take the West Virginia Board of Examiners Licensing Examination to become a LPN. During the twelve months, the students will gain a basic knowledge of Nutrition, Pharmacology, Principles and Fundamentals of Nursing, Anatomy, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medical Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric and personal career relationships. We believe that each student should conduct their practice in a professional manner and adhere to the standards of practice set forth by the state board or examiners for the licensed practical nurse.
